Lighting Retrofit
We found that adopting new light technology in our buildings had a lasting impact on energy efficiency and overall cost savings. In addition to updated, adjustable lighting, learn how we conserved energy through our heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems.
Enhancing safety and efficiency
We have improved lighting fixtures in many of our buildings, including the placement of LED lights, which we aim to have in all locations. The upgrades result in energy cost savings of approximately $265,000 a year and a 50% energy reduction. The retrofitting process included changing light bulbs, enabling light scheduling, installing occupancy sensors and many more behind-the-scenes electrical changes.

Occupancy sensors
One pivotal enhancement we made was the installation of occupancy sensors in various spaces. Doing this allowed for a reduction in lighting and HVAC use when a space is not being used.
Sparta Clinic case study
One location that is a shining example of not only our retrofitted lighting, but our overall sustainability and energy conservation efforts is our Gundersen Sparta Clinic, a 35,000-square-foot building that opened in January 2017.
