Seamless Emergency Care

Gundersen Tri-County Hospital and Clinics works closely with Gundersen Health System to create a nearly seamless link between Trempealeau County and La Crosse including:

Heart attack patients are Priority One

Priority One is a set of protocols when treating heart-attack patients. When a heart-attack patient arrives at Gundersen Tri-County Hospital, our medical staff provide crucial immediate care. If needed, they prepare the patient for a GundersenAIR transport to Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. Within 90 minutes, the patient is in surgery in La Crosse, receiving life-saving coronary artery balloon angioplasty.

Stroke Alert

Stroke Alert is a set of protocols when treating stroke patients. When a stroke patient arrives at Gundersen Tri-County Hospital, our medical staff provides crucial immediate care in conjunction with Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center.

Ambulance Service

Gundersen Tri-County Ambulance is headquartered at Gundersen Tri-County Hospital and Clinics in Whitehall and serves eight municipalities with a total population of more than 7,500 people and surrounding townships.

With 16 volunteer EMTs, Tri-County Ambulance is an Advanced Life Support (ALS) service. This permits Gundersen Tri-County EMTs to give additional drugs and start IVs, all in close coordination with Gundersen Tri-County Hospital Emergency Department physicians. It also is a 911 response service, meaning it covers those communities and surrounding townships 24 hours every day.
