Emergency Care
Gundersen Moundview Hospital and Clinics' emergency department is staffed by physicians and nurses trained in advanced cardiac life support. We offer telemedicine services for stroke and prenatal care. Our staff work closely with local emergency personnel to ensure your care is as seamless as possible. When specialized or intensive care services are needed, helicopter and ground transport services are available to take you to tertiary care centers.
Gundersen Moundview is a certified Wisconsin Coverdell Stroke Hospital. We have been recognized for our quality achievements in stroke care. We offer state-of-the-art imaging diagnostics, 24-hour neurologist access through telemedicine and clot busting medication when warranted.
Urgent Care
Gundersen Moundview Urgent Care is housed in our emergency department. There may be times when patients must wait to be seen since our first priority is to treat life or limb threatening conditions.
Urgent Care is offered for minor illnesses and injuries that need medical attention when your primary care clinic is closed. Lab and x-ray services are also available. Urgent Care is billed at a lower rate than emergency care, but more than primary care visits. If you have questions or concerns about whether your illness or injury will be billed as emergency or urgent care, please speak with the emergency/urgent care staff.
You should seek urgent care for:
- Scrapes, cuts, deep bruises that do not require sutures
- Sprains, strains, and minor injuries
- Mild to moderate asthma attacks
- Neck or back pain
- Minor fractures
- Minor burns (i.e. cooking or sun burns)
- Nausea, vomiting and diarrhea
- Sore throat, coughs
- Respiratory and sinus infections
- Ear, eye and skin infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin rashes, insect bites
Fill your prescriptions in-house
If you receive a prescription during your emergency or urgent care visit, you may use InstyMeds, a 24/7 automated prescription medication dispenser. Similar to a vending machine, it allows you to receive medications after hours when local pharmacies are closed. Prescriptions are sent directly to the machine which calculates co-pays and deductibles. Payments are made by credit or debit card. Cash may be exchanged for a pre-paid debit card to use in the machine.
