I am interested in a job at Gundersen. How can I find what is available?
We’re a large organization with many opportunities. You can view all open positions on our Find a Career webpage. Don't forget to view the qualifications before applying.
How can I be alerted to new jobs I am interested in?
You can set up job alerts by logging in to My Candidate Home in Workday. When you create an alert, you can then be notified by email when new posts meet your preferences.
Applications
Can I apply for the job on my smartphone?
Yes. You can apply on a smartphone; however, it may be easier to apply from a desktop computer (e.g., avoid formatting issues and added scrolling).
Can I check the status of my application?
Yes. You can check the status of your application(s) by signing into the account you used to apply for the position. You can return to your account using this link: Workday candidate home account
Within your Workday account, we use the following hiring stages to keep you informed:
- Application Received: Your application was successfully submitted and is awaiting review by our Talent Acquisition team.
- Being Reviewed: Your application is being reviewed by the hiring team. We may reach out to schedule a phone or video screen with a recruiter or a manager interview.
- Interview: We are currently working on scheduling your interview, or an interview has already been scheduled. You may also have already had your interview, and we are waiting for all interviews to be completed.
- In-Progress: The interview process has been completed. You will receive notification of the hiring decision once all candidate interviews have been completed.
Should I apply for more than one position?
Yes. You are encouraged to apply for all positions you think match your skill set and those for which you have the qualifications.
I don't have my degree, license and/or certification yet but will get it soon. Can I still apply?
Yes. You can still apply. Some positions will require a license/certification or certain degree before you can start, and some may be obtained after your start date. You can find that information in the position requirements or reach out to your talent acquisition specialist.
Can I withdraw my application once I have submitted it for a job?
Yes. Log into My Candidate Home in Workday. Under applications, there will be a withdraw button. If you have an interview already scheduled for the position you're withdrawing from, please email HR-Recruitment Services to let us know, so we can cancel your interview.
Can I start the application now and finish it later?
Yes. You can return to My Candidate Home in Workday to complete your application. If it has been more than 24 hours since starting the application, you may also receive a reminder email from us to complete it.
Resumes and cover letters
Do I need to submit a resume and cover letter?
Yes. You're encouraged to submit a resume and cover letter with your application.
What should I include on my resume?
Your resume provides a brief description of your knowledge, skills and abilities. A great way to stand out among other applicants is to have a resume that markets your strengths and shows you are a match for the job. A great resume grabs the recruiter and hiring manager's attention, sells your related skills and accomplishments, demonstrates you're a match for the position, and most importantly, gets you an interview for the job!
Your resume will include a few key parts:
- Contact information
- Education including licensure and certifications
- Skills
- Work experience
The formatting and design choices you make are entirely your own, but be sure to check for grammar, spelling and punctuation.
How do I attach my resume and cover letter?
You will be able to attach a resume or cover letter during the application process. You can fill out your application using a resume or manually fill in the required information. If you choose to manually fill in the information, you will need to attach your resume later in the application. You will be able to attach your cover letter later regardless of whether you used your resume or manually filled in the application. Both can be attached in the provided link boxes after Job History/Education.
What file formats are acceptable to submit my resume and/or cover letter?
We accept the following file formats:
- .ppt
- .doc
- .png
- .jpg
Pages file format is not compatible with our platform. Many colleges provide resume building resources to help get you started.
I forgot to attach my resume and/or cover letter to my application. What should I do?
If you forgot to attach your resume or cover letter, please email HR-Recruitment Services. Include your name, the position(s) you are applying for and please attach the missing resume and/or cover letter.
Hiring process
How long does the hiring process take?
We do our best to keep candidates updated during the process, and you are also able to review your application status in your Candidate Home. We will notify you regardless of whether you're selected for the position.
For many positions, the process takes a few days to a few weeks depending on:
- Experience and skills needed for the position
- Urgency to fill the role
- Location of the position and number of applicants
What can I expect during my interview?
Interviews are used to get to know you as a person and learn more about your work history. In addition, interviews give recruiters a chance to review the position, work schedule, pay and benefits, and allow you time to ask questions about the role. Below are examples of interviews we use in recruitment:
- Phone screen: Phone call with a recruiter to share more about the role and talk about your work history, background and interest in the position.
- Virtual: Video interview with a recruiter or a hiring leader using Behavioral Based Interviewing.
- Pre-recorded interview: You will receive a link with pre-recorded questions to answer on your own time.
- In-person: Live interview with the hiring leader which usually takes place face-to-face and on one of our campus locations.
- Realistic job shadow: Opportunity to shadow Gundersen employees for 1-2 hours to learn more about the role you applied for. This is not an option for all roles and is scheduled at the discretion of the hiring leader.
I had my interview. When should I follow up?
Your interviewer likely shared the timeline for next steps. Please be patient until that date passes before following up with Recruitment. If you haven't heard back by the deadline shared with you, feel free to reach out.
