Sports Physical Therapy Residency Research
Our residents use motion analysis, force plates and advanced equipment to study how to reduce and treat injuries to improve the lives of all athletes.
Research span
You’ll work with a team of research scientists and clinicians to complete a clinical research project related to sports physical therapy and summarize your results in a format suitable for presentation and publication. Ongoing research initiatives focus on reducing injury risk by exploring biomechanical aspects, the use of augmented feedback and exploring novel methodological approaches to quantifying movement.
Movement science research
You’ll study movement to reduce injuries at the La Crosse Insitute of Movement Science through our partnership with the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. The university’s campus houses the Strzelczyk Clinical Biomechanics Laboratory and the PACER lab, where cutting-edge movement science research is conducted. The research facilities include:
- 15 camera motion analysis and 4 force plates
- 10 camera motion analysis system surrounding a split-belt instrumental treadmill
- Force and pressure distribution measurement equipment
- Force dynamometers and isokinetic equipment
- Electromyography and ultrasound systems
