Optometry Residency Research
We’re a community of learners and that includes you. During your residency, you’ll pursue research that leads to improved outcomes for our patients and future generations.
Research span
During your residency, you’ll design a retrospective research project and author a paper that’s suitable for publication. Our Research Navigation & Education team, a part of Gundersen Research Institute, will support your research goals with funding, associates, databases and more. As part of your research initiative, you will:
- Attend continuing education conferences
- Participate in and lead Journal Club discussion
- Submit case reports for review at academic meetings, such as American Academy of Optometry, SECO, NORA and Heart of America
- Lecture at Gundersen Optometry Annual Meeting, Indiana University School of Optometry Fourth Year Case Conference, and, if selected, at the national meetings
