Our mission

Established in 1973, the Palmer Memorial Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the financial support of healthcare services in northeast Iowa. Today, the foundation’s mission is to fund the needs of our community that advance health and well-being. We do this with your support and our values at heart: compassion, support, generosity, growth and integrity.

Give now

Giving options

All donations help Gundersen Palmer Lutheran Hospital and Clinics deliver high-quality care near you. We believe in giving back to the communities that support us, so you’ll see our foundation working with advocacy groups, civic organizations and community-led initiatives that make us stronger.

Without generous donors like you, the Palmer Memorial Foundation couldn’t invest in community projects or important medical improvements. Your support makes our work possible.

Make a difference in someone’s life by supporting the foundation. Whether you’re honoring someone who’s touched your life or celebrating the life of a friend, the best gift is the gift that keeps on giving.

Donations, memorials & honorarium

Annual giving

Annual giving at the end of each year provides a solid foundation to finance upcoming projects. Please make sure you’re on our mailing list by emailing [email protected].

Circle of life

Circle of Life is a gift planning program for donors making a charitable bequest in personal wills. You can leave a specific amount of money, a percentage of your estate, or a certain number of stock options to Palmer Memorial Foundation as a bequest.

Annual fundraisers

Every year, the Palmer Memorial Foundation hosts fundraisers that are essential for the Foundation’s long-term success. Attendance at these events ensures that the Foundation continues to grow.

Multi-year pledges

Multi-year pledges allow you to make a larger gift and to decide when you want to give, providing the foundation with a predictable base of support.

Planned giving

Planned gifts offer several benefits, including providing an ongoing income stream, easing your current tax liability and reducing capital gains tax or future estate tax. Deferred gifts can support the foundation without impact on your income or lifestyle. You can designate the foundation as a beneficiary of your retirement plan assets or life insurance policies.

Planned gifts also include gifts through your will, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, life estate contracts, charitable lead trusts, and pooled income funds. Please contact your financial advisor for details. Bequests from a properly executed will, living trust or other specific trusts will be accepted in accordance with the donor's wishes and the foundation’s mission and purpose.

From our president

Tanya Rohwer portrait

Knowing that donations given to Gundersen Palmer Memorial Foundation stay local, focusing on improving healthcare in our community makes it easy to be on the Palmer Memorial Foundation Board. I enjoy working with other volunteers who are willing to dedicate time to discuss and create opportunities for the members of our communities to learn, grow and take part in various efforts in keeping our communities healthy.
