36Gundersen Health System is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Technologist, or Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our Lab Technical Leader team supporting our Blood Bank and Transfusion Medicine.
What You'll Do:
As a Lab Technical Leader in Blood Bank, you’ll play a critical role in our mission to provide exceptional patient care. From performing and analyzing diagnostic tests to ensuring the safe and efficient operation of blood bank services, your work will directly impact the health and lives of countless individuals. You will utilize your knowledge and experience to oversee and lead day-to-day operations of our Blood Bank, including testing, analysis, reporting, and troubleshooting while ensuring compliance with laboratory protocols, quality control standards, and regulatory requirements. You will perform complex blood bank testing and crossmatching with accuracy and precision and manage blood and component inventory, ensuring availability for emergencies and routine procedures. You will provide guidance and support to the lab technicians to maintain high-quality standards as well as skills rosters and competency testing of staff. You will be responsible for maintaining all regulatory compliance within the area of responsibility including quality control and assurance documentation, reporting, review and implementation of SOPs, and implementation of corrective actions as necessary. Other duties as assigned.
What's Available:
- Fulltime - 72 hours biweekly (0.9 FTE)
- Monday through Friday day shift, start times between 5a to 9a
- Occasional weekend and holiday if needed for staffing
- Starting pay of $29.89/hr and up, based on your years of experience
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's degree, or higher, in Medical Lab Science/Technology or equivalent is required
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, ideally with a focus on/in high complexity Blood Bank
- Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques, equipment, and methodologies used in Blood Bank processing and testing; including experience with exchange transfusions, product aliquoting and antibody identification
- Specialist in Blood Bank Technology (SBB) certification is highly desired
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy
- Familiarity with quality control standards, regulatory guidelines, and safety protocols.
