Trust and great customer service are things Michelle Micka has prioritized during her more than 25 years of finance experience, including a decade recently with Sanford Health. Pairing these qualities with a focus on empowering people and teams, Michelle shares, is the secret to success.
‘It’s so important to meet and exceed expectations’
“I love building trusting relationships,” the new Bellin and Gundersen Health System vice president of Finance & Accounting says. “This is true for business teams and relationships with partners inside and outside our organization. Being open, collaborative and making sure people know the direction you’re going pays off. If the customer – whoever you are partnering with or serving – doesn’t feel good about the service, it can take time and energy to rebuild the relationship. It’s so important to meet and exceed expectations.”
These characteristics drew Michelle to the role Bellin and Gundersen
“Bellin and Gundersen is highly regarded for providing exceptional care to patients and their families and for making meaningful impacts in the community. I was also drawn to the collaborative and engaging culture. I look forward to working alongside a very talented team that has such a passion for the organization’s mission and vision.”
Professional experience
While at Sanford Health, Michelle served in several senior vice president roles (Operations Finance, Health Plan and Corporate Controller), and she was chief financial officer of the health system’s Development & Research Division. Michelle also served in several finance leadership roles at Fairview Health Services in Minneapolis and began her career with Deloitte providing audits for healthcare clients.
“I am looking forward to building relationships at Bellin and Gundersen and identifying ways the Finance, Accounting and Revenue Cycle team can be a valued partner. This starts with mentoring people, helping them learn and grow, and developing and nurturing great teams.”
Michelle earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accounting from the University of South Dakota. Michelle is also a Certified Public Accountant.
